The Ryan Foundation Supports Community Aid Programs with Donation to Heart Ministry Center
The Ryan Foundation recently donated $381,886.41 to Heart Ministry Center, Inc. in September of 2022. With this donation, the foundation will continue its support of the Center.
Dr. and Mrs. Ryan have always been committed to helping the less fortunate and providing them the necessary means to succeed as they navigate life and its difficulties.
The Center originated nearly forty years ago in response to increased requests from members of the north Omaha community seeking food, shelter, clothing, and financial assistance. While the Center began in the 1980’s as an effort of Sacred Heart Parish, the center has operated as a fully independent 501©3 organization since 2002. Though the Center started off as little more than a small food pantry and clothing closet, it has grown significantly in recent years. The Center currently has 40 employees, and their core programs include a “choice” food distribution program, Monen Healthcare Clinic (which provides medical, dental, vision, and mental health services), A Way Forward social work/case management, Fresh Start job training/placement program, and social enterprise Fresh start laundromat.
The donation will be used to fund two initiatives at the Heart Ministry Center. The first is the construction of additional office space, a waiting area, and a boutique. The second involves upgrading the equipment at the Center’s Monen Healthcare Clinic. The new equipment will include four new dental chairs, a panoramic dental x-ray machine, and new equipment for their vision clinic.
