The Ryan Foundation donates to the Christ Child Society of Omaha
The Ryan Foundation committed to a donation of more than $750,000 over three years to the Christ Child Society of Omaha, Nebraska in October of 2021.
Eileen Ryan was one of the initial donors and volunteers for the organization and was passionate about the mission of the Christ Child Society. Ms. Ryan made sure the organization was able to grow and continue their important work. The Ryan Foundation previously donated over $28,000 to the organization from 2002 to 2014.
The Christ Child Society of Omaha, following its Catholic heritage and vision of founder, Mary Virginia Merrick, brings Christ’s love to the community by offering programs for families in need, supporting their newborns and empowering their parents. The volunteer organization serves the communities in Omaha and Northeastern Nebraska by promoting child welfare through social, education, and human service programs. The organization supplies Layette’s (diaper bags) to needy mothers and offers college scholarships to qualified mothers who are beneficiaries of the Layette program.
The proposed donation will be given to support several initiatives of the Christ Child Society. The majority of the funds will go towards expanding the organization’s scholarship, Layette, and car seat programs. Funds will also be used to lease a storefront location, which will accommodate storage needs, and be a gathering point for organization meetings and events. The center will be known as the “Eileen Ryan Christ Child Center.” There are also funds allocated to expand the organization’s marketing and membership program.
