The Ryan Foundation donates to the New Cassel Foundation

The Ryan Foundation donated $613,500 to the New Cassel Foundation in December of 2020.

The New Cassel Foundation benefits the New Cassel Retirement Home, which is both a retirement home and licensed assisted living center in Omaha that encourages full living by providing services and activities that promote a healthy lifestyle.

Benefactor of the Ryan Foundation, Eileen Ryan, was an advocate of New Cassel’s ministry throughout her life. She previously donated to establish the Ryan Dining Room in 2010.

The donation is a continuation of support from the Ryan Foundation and will primarily be used to assist New Cassel with the cost of replacing the existing HVAC system with a state of the art - 99% energy efficient – and user-friendly heating and cooling system. The total cost of the project is estimated at $2.1 million.

“All of us at New Cassel are beyond grateful for this Christmas blessing to the elderly and disadvantaged people we proudly serve,” said Cindy Petrich, President of the New Cassel Foundation.

Funds from the donation will also be used to update kitchen appliances, create a new serving station and reorganize the Café area to better serve residents, replace existing light fixtures with better lighting for low-vision residents, install new carpet, replace the entryway with stone, and update the1980's décor throughout the building. The donation will also outfit New Cassel with monitoring equipment and walkie-talkies that will allow for better communication amongst staff and provide them the ability to monitor residents when walking outside of the building.
