Ryan Foundation continues support for St. Vincent De Paul Society of Omaha
The Ryan Foundation donated $500,000 to St. Vincent De Paul Society District Council of Omaha in June of 2021. The Ryan Foundation previously donated $120,000 to this organization in 2020.
The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is one of the largest charity organizations in the country, and they provide social services, resources, and financial assistance to the poor and needy across the United States. The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Omaha provides support for families from Omaha and surrounding towns that are facing challenges ranging from unemployment or under-employment, major illness, limited access to quality healthcare, or homelessness. The Society of Saint Vincent and its member churches provide free food, clothing, housing or help those with a lack of ability to pay their bills on time as part of their financial assistance program.
Most of the additional funds will be used to continue the support of St. Vincent De Paul’s financial assistance program, with the majority being used for rental assistance. The impact of the gift will be felt by individuals and families that live outside of the Vincentian parish boundaries in Omaha. The previous $120,000 gift was able to help 175 families in the Omaha area that were threatened with evictions and/or shutoffs of utilities because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The new gift is expected to quadruple the impact of the first gift.
During their lives, both Eileen and Dr. Ryan supported uplifting individuals in need through gifts to numerous Catholic charities. This donation is a continuation of their mission to support those in need.
